Classical Education

Grammar Stage

In the grammar stage, students are able to learn easily through memorization, story telling, active play and naming things. To classically teach these children in the early years, they are taught by memorization with lots of interaction and hands-on learning. Maximizing on young children's gift of wonder, our teachers lead them to God's creation through the lens of Christ.

Logic Stage

In the logic stage, students begin to question and debate what they have learned. Engagement and lively discussions allow these questions to rise and dig deep in finding the true, the good and the beautiful. When these conversations are rooted in Christ and God's Word, logic students grow and become grounded in the truth.

The Trivium

Classical Education values every human being the way God created them to be in all stages of their life. It teaches students to learn the way God created them to learn. Teaching classically means to teach in line with each student's stage of development. The classical model calls these the Trivium. The three stages as coined by Dorothy Sayers in her essay, "The Lost Tools of Learning", are Grammar, Logic and Rhetoric.

Rhetoric Stage

In the rhetoric stage, students have come to a place of mastery and have a sincere desire to express themselves in a way that others will listen to their knowledge. Rhetorical students are ready to lead and share what they are passionate about with others. In this stage, all of the truth, goodness and beauty that has been instilled during their younger years comes out in fruitful abundance.

Classical Education is a way of teaching and learning that sees every person as a whole human being with the ability to flourish in every way. Learning what is true, good and beautiful is the goal of humanity and its fullness. Classical Education puts emphasis on Western civilization with great literature and writing. It ensures that Latin is taught early and consistently. Arithmetic, history, and the sciences provide the opportunity for students to encounter great discovery and invention as the disciplines are learned. Logic and Socratic discussion are included in the curriculum as the students learn to challenge ideas and discern truth.
